Hello ladies! I've just read my old ficcies and though I'd re-post one of my favourite fictions here.
For those who's never read this stuff before. I hope you will like it and it would be greatly appreciated if you could drop a short review.
Thanks, Nico xxx.
Welcome To Wherever You Are. © Nico Lee, January 2006.

Later Lee Ryan, a charming boy with full of sense of humor, Lee changes Nicky in ways she could never have imaged. He saves her and lifts her up. With his power of love influences, Nicky realizes what she’s been missing all along.
Nicky also learns from Lee how to live strongly in a positive way…
Chapter 1
When you want to give up and your heart's about to break.
Remember that you're perfect; God makes no mistakes.
The horrible smell of medicine filled his nostrils prompted him to wrinkle up his face bitterly; he looked as though something was choking him to death. He hated hospitals – the smell, the look, the sounds and the sour look that people seemed to have attached permanently to their faces. Stumbling down the whitewash hallway, he took a seat on a bench, leaned his head back against the wall and tapped his toe on the ground. He looked around aimlessly until his gazes landed on a young girl.
She sat opposite him, looking down at the smooth floor, musing, lost in her own world. Seemingly her soul didn’t belong to her body but strayed miserably in another planet. She had dark long hair that reached her waist. The surface of her creamy skin was flawless, but the color was terribly pale. She looked so frail, so ashen like a piece of tofu. Untouchable but Breakable. It was as if you were to touch her, even gently, she would shatter.
Becoming conscious of being watched, she blinked, catching a glimpse of his eyes on her. He quickly looked away in embarrassment.
One decent lady in a red, posh dress walked over to her. “It’s time for you to take your pills, honey.” she said softly, motherly.
“I don’t need it,” the young girl replied without emotion.
“Please, don’t be stubborn.”
In annoyance, she snatched the bottle of pills from the woman’s palm. “I’ll take it later.” Nodding, the woman began to walk away and then turned around to glance at her one last time before disappearing out of sight.
She eyed the little bottle in her hands, stood up, chucked it into a rubbish bin without hesitation, and made her way into the hallway.
A frown formed his face as he watched her. He neared the rubbish bin and picked up the bottle of pills. “Hey,” he called after her. Turning sharply, she faced him in surprise. As a matter of fact, he was surprised by his behavior too.
“I’m sorry if you think that I’m sticking my nose into your business,” he stretched out his palm. “But you should take it back. I trust it won’t do you any harm.”
“It won’t keep me alive any longer either, so what’s the point in taking it?” she said sarcastically.
A silence fell upon them. He swallowed, pulling his hand back. “Why do you say that?” He could have backed off, he could have walked away when he smelled trouble, but rather, he decided to open the book on this mysterious girl.
Looking away, she puckered her dry lips into a sad smile; the saddest smile he had ever seen. “Gastric cancer,” she breathed out. “I have gastric cancer.”
His eyes bulged with shock. He opened and closed his mouth without saying anything; he felt like a goldfish. He scratched his forehead, fumbling for the right word to say. To his dismay, he couldn’t speak. This piece of astonishing news made him feel sick. “Late stages?” He managed to ask.
“No,” she said simply. Then he nodded as if thanking her for the knowledge, but wasn’t expecting for more information on the condition of her disease.
“It’s okay, you don’t need to be afraid.” He studied her blank expression.
“Afraid of what?” she cocked her brow provocatively. The girl looked like the type of person who would like to challenge others.
“Well... erm, you know...” He stuttered and cursed himself for being a pure jerk.
“Death? No, I’m not afraid of death,” She said crisply and firmly as if death wasn’t a big deal.
“Why?”
“I have nothing in this world that I’m attached to, so I won’t be upset or afraid when I’m gone.” Her words were slow and spiritless.
His jaw fell. He was surprised to know that such a young girl could be so extremely pessimistic. “I’m sor-”
“Don’t feel sorry, I’m sick of people around me saying sorry,” she butted in with a flicker of a smile. “Seriously, I don’t need sympathy.”
“You aren’t in late stage, which means you will be alright.”
“I’m going to die anyway.”
Silence.
After a brief moment, he glanced down over her hand to see the name tag on her wrist. “Ah, Nicky, I’ll see you around.”
“Bye, stranger,” she whispered faintly.
He smiled up at her as his green eyes sparkled. “Call me Lee.” _________________ Please click my sign for checking out my fiction webpage, thanks!

Chapter 2
“Nicky, your condition is serious. You’ll need surgery before it goes worse.”
“Leave it out; it’s my own business all the way, okay?” Lee heard a girl shouting in a room as he passed by. A twinge of curiosity made him stop walking when he realised that there was a tiny gap in the doorway, just wide enough to reveal Nicky, who carried a look of anger upon her face. He bit his lower lip, tilting his head to one side, peeking through from the gap.
“Just do it once, for your father; please, stop torturing us,” a woman said. Lee recognised her as he had seen her before. The lady was the one who convinced Nicky to take pills the other day.
“I don’t wanna argue with you any further. I need some sleep; get out of here.” Suddenly the door creaked open. Lee stumbled back several steps. He reddened. Nicky looked shocked as Lee came into sight without warning.
“We really want you to have the surgery, please think twice.” The lady tried to convince her with desperation in her voice. Lee watched her leave as Nicky sank down in the bed.
“Hey, you okay?” he greeted her as soon as the door closed with soft click.
Faking a smile, she waved her hand dismissively “I’m fine.”
Taking a seat next to her bed, Lee scratched his nose nervously. “Erm… I’m sorry,” he apologised. “I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, I… ah… I didn’t know you were having fight with your mum.”
“What? Mum? Who?” She knitted her eyebrows.
In a way, Lee was surprised by her reaction; he suspected that his words might have irritated her. “I’m talking about the lady.” He pointed over his shoulder.
“Dorothy? Dorothy is not my mum, never in millions years,” Nicky explained. Within a second, her eyes clouded over, hurt and upset. She looked down, twiddling the corner of the blanket with her fingers. “My dad divorced with my mum because of Dorothy; my mum walked out on us in anger and I haven’t seen her since. I hate Dorothy; she ruined my life, my family.” Her faint voice held resentment. She lifted up her face to look at him, flashing him a small smile. “I’m sorry for babbling so much; maybe it’s because I haven’t talked a lot to people in ages since all of my friends stayed away from me since they found out that I’m ill. I don’t have any friends.”
His mouth dropped to the floor; Lee wondered how a young girl could have gone through so much.
A brief knock on the door, they looked up as the knob turned. One nurse appeared, making her way to the bed and put down the tray on the nightstand. “Time to take your pills,” she said politely.
“I’ll take it when I feel up to it.” Nicky rolled her eyes; her head flopped onto the pillow and pretended to get some sleep.
“But-”
“Shhh,” Lee put his index finger on his lips, indicating her not to speak. “Let me try,” he mouthed.
The nurse nodded appreciatively before she strode out of the room.
“Don’t try to persuade me into taking the medicine,” Nicky warned him.
Clearing his throat, Lee slumped down on the edge of her bed. “No, I don’t intend to,” he supplied softly. After a second, he took out a chocolate bar from his denim jacket’s pocket and nibbled it. “Hmm, do you want some chocolate?”
Slowly, Nicky turned around to eye his white chocolate. Unable to predict what would happen, Lee reached out for the pills, spilled them into his mouth, chewing them with the chocolate.
“You’re crazy.” She chewed her lip, trying hard not to giggle.
“Everyone says so!” he laughed. “Look, the pills taste so sweet, hmmm… yummie, you wanna try?” he adopted a coaxing tone. Nicky stared back at him without saying one word as if she were debating with herself whether to accept it or not.
Not waiting for her respond, he cracked a piece of the chocolate. “Ah… open your mouth.”
She did what he told her to.
Gently, Lee put the piece of white chocolate in her mouth. He felt his heart skipped a beat when his fingertips touched her warm lips by accident.
“Lee?” Nicky muttered as she melted the snack inside her mouth.
“What?”
“Can I have a larger piece of it?” She pointed at his hands coyly, looking like a little kid who was asking her father for what she wanted.
Lee chuckled. “Yes, but now you have to take the pills before I give you the rest of this.”
She mustered a pout, but obeyed his will.
“You’re brave, ain’t you?” He laughed, watching her swallowing hard with eyes closed tightly. She looked funny.
With that, she sent Lee an evil look, which made him laugh even more. “So, what are you doing here? Why are you always at the hospital?” she questioned, grabbing the chocolate from his hand.
His smile fell away suddenly, “I’ve just visited my friend.” He looked out of the window, a serious mask appearing on his face.
Nodding mutely in reply, she eyed him with those big innocent eyes. “So, are you leaving now?”
Lee moved his head back so that he was looking at her as he started to digest her words. Somehow, he could see her unspeakable request on her face. A smile crept upon his lips. “No, I’m not. I’ll stay with you till you fall asleep.”
A grin spread across her face as Lee smoothed her sheet a bit. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” He smiled. Nicky felt her heavy lids closed and drifted off to sleep.
If you feel alone and lost and need a friend
Remember every new beginning is some beginning's end
When it's seems you're lost, alone and feeling down
Remember everybody's different; just take a look around _________________ Please click my sign for checking out my fiction webpage, thanks!

Chapter 3
A limousine pulled up to a halt in front of a conventional English house, which was based in South London. It was a very grand residence; it looked more like a castle than just a house. The driver opened the door for Nicky who tugged at Lee lively by the arm, getting out of the car. After staying at hospital for a few days for a check up, she was finally allowed to go home today.
“Aww aww aww the house is amazing, I feel like I’m in Buckingham Palace.” Lee held his breath, looking around at the splendid dining room, then faked a cough playfully. “Erm, may I dance with you, Cinderella?” he bent, offering his hand in a polite way. Nicky burst out in a fit of giggles.
“I’m not Cinderella; she’s happy and has a Prince Charming, but I don’t.” Her voice turned slightly bitter.
Feeling the lump in his throat growing, Lee said quietly, “I’m sure you’ll have one when the right time comes.”
“Nicky.”
She snapped her head up to find her father standing at the bottom of the stairs, smiling over at them. “Dad?” she frowned.
Hubert walked up to her. His smile always stuck onto his face whenever he saw his baby daughter. “I’m glad you’re back.” He tried to reach for her hair but she stepped back, folding her arms across her chest. He sighed a little. “I’ve talked to Dr. Marshall to arrange the surgery for you. You’re leaving for the States next week.”
Nicky felt the familiar surge of anger as it flew over her when the subject was brought up. “No! I won’t have the surgery.”
“Whether you like it or not, yes, you’re going to have it.”
“If you force me any further, I’m afraid you will lose your daughter sooner than you know.”
Hubert squinted at her in desperation. “What can I do to make you happy? Tell me, sweetheart.”
“Give me back my mum and the warm, proper family I used to have.” With a quick move, Nicky grabbed Lee by the wrist and dragged him up the stairs, leaving the miserable man behind without looking back. All in all, she didn’t want to look at her father more than a second ever since he hooked up with another woman and dumped her mother.
She clapped a hand over her mouth as soon as she walked into her bedroom; something did a massive somersault in her stomach. Nicky rushed to the toilet and threw up with blood and black liquid. The sound of vomiting pricked Lee’s ear up, his heart sank as he could do nothing but watched her suffer from being so ill.
“You’re so silly, you should take the surgery,” said Lee, his voice held a bit of anger.
Nicky brushed her teeth, and rinsed with ‘Listerine’ in order to freshen breath, and then she wiped her lips with a towel. “Why should I? When there’s nothing in the world that I’m attached to?”
“You should,” he took her by her shoulders, forcing her to face him. “Because… I… because,” he couldn’t say the words, he couldn’t say them.
“Because of what, Lee?” She looked at him in puzzlement, wondering what he would say. Lee raised his hand to touch her soft face. Nicky felt her heart fluttered with nervousness as he slowly slipped his free hand around her waist and leaned in to brush his lips over hers gently. She closed her eyes at that sweetest moment. His gentle kiss brought her to the edge of heaven. In a way, she was glad that she finally knew how a kiss tasted like before she dies, because she had never been kissed by any boys.
After they pulled away, Lee held her hot, pink face between his palms. “What if I say that I really liked you, would you have the surgery for me?”
She stared at him and as their eyes met, she found her heart bouncing faster than it already was. “Oh, aww I… I… I…”
“I’m sorry Nicky, can we talk a bit, please?” They jumped apart awkwardly at the soft knock on the door.
It wasn’t long before the knob twirled. Hubert appeared into view. Looking up at them once, he knew something must have had happened just second ago, their crimson faces spilled out the truth. He pretended to be calm but somehow, he felt delighted at that. Clearing his throat, he stepped forward. “I might not be a good father, but I want you to know, I love you so much.” Hubert paused for a while and made his way back to doorway.
Nicky bit her lip and heard the word coming out of her mouth before she could stop it. “Dad!” she called as he turned around. “I…I…” stuttering, she looked back at Lee who nodded, smiling in encouragement. “I’ll have the surgery; I’m going to L.A.”
Nicky was as stubborn as a stallion, she ultimately agreed to take the surgery and that surprised everyone. In the following days, she no longer felt lifeless, instead, she realised she had found a light in the darkness. It was all because of Lee.
*
Night had fallen. The full moon hung above the sky, lighting up their faces with soft moonlight. Together, they sat at her balcony, spending their last night before she left for the States. A sudden of wild breeze chilled them, making her skinny body shook with cold. Lee slipped off his jacket and draped it around her shoulders.
She thanked him, breaking the silence. “I’ll come back after a month; you will come to see me when I’m back, wouldn’t you?”
Lee thought about it for a moment and then nodded.
“I… I’m so scared; there is actually 50% of being alive. I’m afraid that once I stepped into the surgery room, I’d never get out of there,” came a wavering reply as tears welled up in her eyes.
He felt his heart break with compassion; he quickly pulled her forward for a tight embrace. “Shhh, there is nothing to be scared of; you will be fine, Cinderella.”
Smiling weakly in reply, she seemed to be satisfied by his assurance. Again, silence played its role in the middle of night; she drifted off in the comfort of his arms. ‘God, she’s so young, so beautiful, she is only eighteen. She shouldn’t die in that way, not right now.’
Lee sighed, holding back his own tears as he planted a deep kiss onto the top of her head and whispered a silent prayer for her. _________________ Please click my sign for checking out my fiction webpage, thanks!

Thanks girls!
Marz, your name is lovely and reminds me of the Marissa from The OC.
Chapter 4
Gold rays of sunshine filtered through the clouds, brightening up the surface of the ground. Nicky opened the window, the sweet scent of petals danced around her button nose; she inhaled deeply. It was so good to be back at home with her healthy body. Within anticipation, the surgery was greatly successful. Now, most importantly, there was someone she desired to see - Lee Ryan.
Walking back to her nightstand, she picked up the telephone and dialed his number. She held her breath, waiting for the other side to be connected.
Once.
Twice.
Thrice.
Four times.
On the sixth ring, when Nicky was about to hang up, there was a message with Lee’s lovely voice…
10:34 am – 5th September‘Hey, it’s Lee. I’m sorry but I’m not available now to answer your call; please leave your message and I’ll get back to you real soon.’
She felt as if her tongue was tied into a knot, incapable of speaking. A sudden nervousness crept upon her body. “Oh hey, it’s Nicky. I… I just got back from the States last night, thought I’d let you know and see if you have time for us to catch up or something…” She paused for a moment. “I want to see you. Bye.”
5:55 pm – 5th September
‘Hey, it’s Lee. I’m sorry but I’m not available now to answer your call; please leave your message and I’ll get back to you real soon.’
“It’s me; have you gotten my voice mail? Please give me a ring when you’re free. Bye.”
11:17 am – 6th September
‘Hey, it’s Lee. I’m sorry but I’m not available now to answer your call; please leave your message and I’ll get back to you real soon.’
4:55 pm - 6th September
‘Hey, it’s Lee. I’m sorry but I’m not available now to answer your call; please leave your message and I’ll get back to you real soon.’
12:01 pm - 7th September
‘Hey, it’s Lee. I’m sorry but I’m not available now to answer your call; please leave your message and I’ll get back to you real soon.’
6:12 pm - 7th September
‘Hey, it’s Lee. I’m sorry but I’m not available now to answer your call; please leave your message and I’ll get back to you real soon.’
8:40 pm - 7th September
‘Hey, it’s Lee. I’m sorry but I’m not available now to answer your call; please leave your message and I’ll get back to you real soon.’
Where is Lee? Where is Lee? Where is Lee? Like a sledgehammer, the question had been hammering inside her head terribly. Ever since Nicky was back in London, she’d lost contact with Lee.
Search for him, yes, search for him. Oh, hang on, where should I go to seek for him? Where? Suddenly, a light bulb sprang to life above her head. Nicky grabbed all her belongings with her and dashed out of the house, marching towards the hospital where they had first met. As soon as she reached her destination, her anxiety melted away instantly in relief as she caught a sight of him at the doorway.
“LEE!” she ran to him.
He snapped his head up with a look of extreme surprise on his face and took a little step backwards to breathe. It looked as though he’d been caught by the cops and was prepared to run.
“I’ve been trying to get a hold of you; where have you been?” Nicky asked between gasps. “Why didn’t you return my calls? Have I done something to upset you? Huh?”
A look of guilt was in his eyes when Lee gazed at her. “I… I’m sorry; it’s me who upset you, I’m so sorry,” he apologised sincerely.
“Lee, if you don’t like me, you can tell me straight to my face and I won’t bother you anymore,” Nicky muttered, looking down as if she were holding back her tears.
“I like you. I really do.” Lee quickly moved forward to hug her and whispered in her ear, “If anything ever happened to me or to you, I’ll always be there for you but you must promise me one thing; that you will stay strong for yourself and don’t be afraid, no matter what happens.”
Confusion filled in her mind. Still, she nodded.
“Is it a promise? I want to hear you say it.” Lee demanded.
“Yes, I promise that I will stay strong for myself, no matter what happens.”
“Hey, no need to cry, your mascara is melting with your tears, I’m not gonna kiss you,” He teased as he brushed off tears from her face. Nicky smiled.
Their fingers intertwined as Lee led her out of the hospital, going down to another street. They went to have lunch and watched a romantic movie in the cinema. They exchanged a shy smile when a sex scene came to play on the screen. The pair also shopped a little after the movie.
Pointing at the bear through a window, Lee exclaimed, “Look!”
“What?” Her eyes followed his finger.
“It just looks so much like you,” he laughed. Nicky slapped his arm playfully and that made him laugh even louder.
She was happy – truly, blissfully. She wouldn’t have known what happy was if Lee hadn’t stepped into her life. He was her pillar of strength; without him, she would have been lost and drowned in the wide, deep ocean. Nicky couldn’t believe that she was actually with someone special when just a couple of weeks ago, she had lain in the hospital, waiting for an angel to take her to heaven. The whole thing seemed so unreal.
“Did I tell you that you look great today? I’m really glad you listened to me and agreed on the surgery,” Lee said when they stood at the gate of her house under the moonlight.
“I’m really thankful.”
Smiling he hugged her; she closed her eyes but much to her disappointment, his kiss landed just on her forehead. She gave him once last lingering look and then made her way into the house.
Nicky took off her jacket and threw her head down onto the pillow. Her cell phone bleeped; she realised a new message awaited her. She placed her thumb on the button and hit ‘read’ in excitement. She began to read the text from Lee… _________________ Please click my sign for checking out my fiction webpage, thanks!

Chapter 5
Nicky tried to ignore the butterflies kicking in her stomach as she focused on Lee’s text.
‘Thanks for going out with me today. I had a wonderful time. It is nice to have a friend like you. You’re the loveliest girl I have ever seen, I really like you, but… it doesn’t mean we could be more than friends. I think it would be best for us to be good mates, you know what I mean? Look at you Nicky, you’re beautiful and most importantly, you’re healthy now; I trust there are plenty of good lads waiting for you out there. Love, Lee x.’
The cell phone slipped onto the floor from her shaking hands. “Lee… Lee.” She managed to stagger out of the bedroom and walked downstairs but it was too hard for her to find the way out in the darkness since her eyes were filled with tears.
At the gate, a few of the securities carried a confused look upon their faces as they watched her ran by. They were not too sure whether they should follow her or not since she looked very upset and angry. None of them was willing to have their heads bitten off so they didn’t move forward to chase after her. They looked at each other as if saying, ‘You go and follow her’ and ‘What? Why me? You go.’
Wrapping her arms around herself in the chilly breeze, she looked around in search of a shadow of Lee. “Lee! Lee, I know you’re here, no need to hide.” Nicky cupped her hands around her mouth as she shouted.
Silence was the only reply.
“If you don’t turn up, I won’t go home tonight.”
“You should go home, it’s getting late,” she heard a voice said softly after a few moments.
She turned toward the sound and came face to face with Lee. “Why do you make me feel so special but in next minute, you say you don’t want me? I don’t understand… maybe I had done or said something upset you; please tell me and I promise that I won’t make the same mistakes again.” She reached out and clutched his shirt, begging him. “I’d do anything for you, just don’t leave me.”
A lump formed in his throat; he tried to gulp it away but failed miserably. It was a huge hit for him to see her cry. His heart fell straight through to the floor at her tears. After a brief pause, Lee pulled her between his arms, just like he always did when she was afraid. “I’m not leaving you because we’re still friends.”
Madly, Nicky shook her head as if she didn’t want to face the reality. “It isn’t like that, is it? Tell me that you didn’t mean any of it when you say that, tell me please.” She sobbed as he remained quiet. “I believed you wanted me Lee, you kissed me.”
“Mistake,” he confessed almost inaudibly as though he didn’t want the word to be heard.
Titling her head to her right side, Nicky looked up at him. “You made up all these from the start because you wanted me to have the surgery?”
Lee moistened his lower lip with his tongue, collecting his thoughts. It took him awhile to speak, “You could say that.” He looked away as his stomach tightened at the fact.
Much to her mortification, she reddened and felt unimaginably hurt. “I’m sorry for being such a pain. T… that’s fine, I won’t bother you again.” Nicky brushed at her teary eyes. She glanced over at his handsome face one last time and it ripped her heart out. With that, she walked away with her broken heart.
Lee had never been in love with her? How could she had been so silly to think he was? But why did he kiss her in the first place? Why? She began to cough as she was choked by her tears. All at once, she wished she had never gone to L.A., she wished she had never agreed on the surgery. She wanted the old angel to be back and take her to heaven where she could have been there now. Peacefully.
“Nicky!” Lee ran over to her and took her wrist; she winced at his touch. “Don’t do anything stupid.”
A hint of an ironic smile lifted the corner of her lips. She found that it was amusing that he would say that. “Why do you care?”
“Why not? You know I still care about you, more than you’ll ever know.”
She gave out a little sarcastic laugh. “You do not. But you know what? You were the best thing that ever happened to me, you came into my life to save me and gave me hope, showing me how beautiful the world is, but you were the one who damaged my hope and showed me that the world is full of evil and hopelessness, and pushed me back to hell from heaven.” She paused for a long moment, taking a deep breath and said softly, “Lee, even though you’ve hurt me so much but I have to admit that the last few weeks had been the best time I’ve ever had, it seemed like I’d known you forever.”
God, that was too much for him. “I…” when he was about to say something, a grip on his Adam’s apple stopped him from speaking. He watched the small of her back vanished from sight.
Three months later.
As much as her mind screamed at her to not get involved with Lee and she swore she’d never see him again after the stupid text, after Lee confessed he wasn’t in love with her, here she was again, searching for him and heading to the hospital everyday, waiting for a chance that he might pop up at some point. The doctors and nurses started gossiping about her and exchanged words in each other’s ears once she arrived, but she didn’t care about what people thought, all she cared about was to see Lee.
Nicky sank backward into the sofa, looking across the lobby in the hospital as people were putting up Christmas decorations on the walls and the tall Christmas trees.
“Go home, sweetie.”
Who was she? Nicky had no idea, maybe it was just another nurse who felt sorry for her and tried to persuade her to go home.
“I won’t go unless Lee comes to see me; I desperately need to talk to him,” she responded, yet her gaze remained on the shimmering decorations. She didn’t bother to look at the ‘nurse’.
“Don’t waste your time, go home. Lee will never see you.”
This time, Nicky turned around to look at her; a slight surprise in her eyes immediately. No, the woman wasn’t a nurse, she was a stranger. “Sorry? Who are you? You don’t have the right to tell me when Lee will see me, when he will not.”
“What if Lee wanted me to tell you that?”
