Heya,
This is actually the second time this fic is being re-posted.  But because we're still writing it and because we've got plans for a sequel, we'll post it again.

Angels Calling

Chapter 1.
Nadine.
Nervously I fiddled around with the keys on the key ring, looking out of the window at the people going into the school. A knot was slowly forming in my belly and I felt nauseous but returned my brother’s smile as he parked the car on the parking lot, placing his hand on my knee so I looked at him.
“It’s gonna be okay” he said softly. Sighing I nodded and opened the door, stepping out into the soft Spring air, pulling my denim jacket tighter around me as I waited for Duncan to lock the car and take his backpack.
Slowly we walked up to the front of the school, curiously looking around at the crowd of people that were spread across the large grass field, chatting and laughing away. I sighed deeply and followed Duncan through the large doors, mumbling an excuse as I bumped into a girl.
“What’s your first class?” Duncan asked turning around, his eyes still scanning the paper in his hand.
“English. You?”
“Drama. I’ll see you at lunch, have fun” he smiled, pressing a kiss on my cheek before turning around the corner leaving me alone. Letting out another sigh I stuffed the timetable back in my bag and made my way to the lockers at the end of the long hallway, scanning the numbers until I found the one I was looking for.
“Nads! Nads!” I spun around and a giggle left my lips as Sarah came running up to me, her long blonde hair going everywhere as she pushed her way through the crowded hallway. “I’m so sorry I’m late but I forget to set my alarm and then I couldn’t find my…”
“Sezzie breathe girl” I giggled closing the locker, sliding the key in my bag as she giggled too, stroking from her face and tucking it behind her ear as a smile appeared on her pretty face.
“Sorry. You okay?” she asked linking her arm through mine, I shrugged.
“I guess” I said, trying to act cheery as Sarah flashed me another smile.
“Don’t worry, you’ll fit in just perfectly. I gotta go now, Mr Hammersmith is waiting for me. See you at lunch!” she called, waving at me as I nodded, taking a deep breath before stepping into the classroom, bumping into a lad standing in the doorway.
“Oi! Watch it!” he exclaimed picking up the backpack that had fallen from his shoulder, getting the attention of the other pupils in the classroom. Feeling my cheeks turn red I looked at him, his dark brown eyes looking back at me.
“I’m sorry. Really, I am” I said quietly.
“You’d better be” he snapped dusting off the expensive looking backpack, his piercing eyes never leaving me. Without really realising it a shiver ran down my spine and I quickly found myself a free place in the back of the classroom, next to the window.
The bell rang and I frowned to myself, wondering where Lee was, remembering he had promised me to meet me before the first lesson would start. We had been going out for nearly a year and thanks to my dad’s new job we were in the same class now.
It was the third school in just two years time and all because of my father’s job at one of the biggest companies in Great Britain. I hated moving schools, I hated the fact I didn’t know anyone except for my own brother who was a year older than me, making him nineteen, I hated the fact I had to find new friends everywhere we moved to.
Luckily that wasn’t the case now, at least I already knew two people. Sarah was my colleague at work and through her I met Lee, just five years ago. Soon enough the fours of us were inseparable and we shared everything, being extremely close.
The ringing bell snapped me out of my little daydream and I quickly shoved my books in my bag, leaving the classroom, smiling as I saw Lee standing at his locker, looking extremely concentrated.
“Boo” I whispered giggling, slipping my arms around his waist from behind.
“Oh hey babe” he smiled turning around, pecking my lips gently, smiling as our eyes locked. “Sorry I wasn’t here this morning but I overslept. Sezzie forgot to set the alarm” he said with a grin, making me giggle.
“I know, she told me” I said.
“Oi Ryan! What are you doing with that freak?!”
Confused I looked up, frowning at Lee as he quickly let go off me, shoving his hands in the pockets of his jeans, blushing slightly.
“Uhm nothing. Uhm, I have to go. See ya around” he trailed off, running over to the lad I had bumped into that morning, leaving me behind in utter confusion.
Chapter 2.
Sarah.
I wrapped the jacket round me shivering slightly as I knocked on the door again waiting for Duncan to answer sighing to myself. My brother was so stupid sometimes, I didn’t know what he had done all I knew was that I was needed with Nads. I shivered some more moving around on the spot as the door came flying open.
“Come in quick silly its freezing” he told him pulling me inside as I smiled softly at him, he took my jacket from me placing it over the radiator as I slid my sleeves of my thick jumper over my arms, their house was so lovely and warm.
“So what’s happened?” I asked him as he walked through into the kitchen as I followed them behind sitting down on the seat at the table as he flicked the kettle on.
“im not to sure she was crying when she came home and looked herself in her room” he told me sighing, I got to my feet moving towards him as I hugged him gently feeling his arms slip round my waist, “I knew it had to be something to do with lee” he told me quietly, I sighed nodding.
It always was my brother, they didn’t argue often but whenever they did it always had something to do with him and doing something stupid and I didn’t doubt that this time was any different. They were in love but he wouldn’t admit it as much as everyone else could see it.
I knew that Nadine loved him, it didn’t take much for her to fall in love and sometimes that could be a negative thing but with Lee it seemed different. he seemed to generally care, I wasn’t to sure about letting her get close to him because I knew what he could be, but a lot happened making me change my view.
He wasn’t the player everyone thought, I saw the real Lee and what he could be, that was the Lee Nadine fell in love with.
I took the cup of coffee for me and the warm hot chocolate for Nadine before making my way upstairs, knocking on her door
“Go away” her familiar broken voice cried,
“Nads babes its me” I told her as I heard some movement in the room before the door clicked open and her pale face came into view, her make up had smudged and her hair was a bit of a mess, she looked broken.
She slumped down on her bed as I placed our drinks down before bringing her into a warm hug as she started crying again. I rubbed her back gently as she cried softly as I hugged her,
“Come on darling your strong” I whispered as she shook her head, “you are look at what you’ve been through” I told her,
“I love him Sezzie” she exclaimed as I sighed hugging her tighter as she cried harder, we sat like that for 10 minutes until she slowly stopped crying before pulling away from my hug as she took a tissue from the box on her bedside table
“What’s he done hun?” I asked her as I sat crossed leg on her bed taking a sip of my drink until I realised it was cold making me spit it back into my cup causing her to giggle slightly.
The door knocked as Duncan peeped his head round it smiling slightly at us, “you okay?” he asked making his way to the bed, Nads nodded making him smile as he kissed her forehead, he was so sweet and caring “can I do anything?” he asked
“Coffee please” I asked cheekily handing him my cup with cold coffee in, he rolled his eyes playfully before taking Nads cup as well,
“Coffee two sugars?” he asked, I shook my head
“Nah no sugars need to lose some weight” I told him as him and Nads gave me evils “what?” I asked innocently as he sighed shaking his head
“two sugars it is then?” he told me as he made his way out, I sighed, I knew they hated it when I started to put myself down but to me I wasn’t, I was being honest. I turned to see Nads raising an eyebrow at me, I sighed
“I swear you two are so silly sometimes” she told me shaking her head, I sighed, we weren’t the only ones, what had my brother been playing at? How did she manage to fall in love with him so easily? They had been together so long; I knew it had to be something big.
But what was it? Why did he have to ruin our plans, today was meant to be our day, we were going to paint Nads new room and I didn’t want to let him ruin it but I knew I wouldn’t have much choice.
Chapter 3.
Lee.
The front door slammed shut and I awoke with a start, groaning as I realised the time, I had slept for a few hours. I threw the books off my lap and jumped off the bed, running down the stairs where Sarah was taking her coat off, looking up as she heard me.
“What’s up with you?” I frowned as I noticed the cold look on her face.
“I could ask you the same thing” she said rubbing her cold hands, going through to the living room where she sat down on the sofa, kicking off her shoes and pulling her feet up. Frowning even more I took place on the other sofa.
“What do you mean?” I asked. Sarah rolled her eyes.
“I just went to see Nads. She was a real state, what have you done this time?” she said, suddenly I was all ears. “Lee tell me. What did you do?”
Silently I diverted my eyes from my sister, looking down at my shoes, they were so interesting all of a sudden. I knew I had treated Nadine wrong but I didn’t really have a choice, did I? My so called friends more or less made me act the way I did.
Deep inside of me I knew I loved Nadine, we had been through a lot together and I really cared about her. She was different from previous girlfriends, she had something mysterious, something I couldn’t quite put my finger on. We had been friends for years but I always knew our love would turn into something more one day.
“It’s Jake, isn’t it?” Sarah said sighing, making me look up at her.
“What?”
“Ever since you’ve become friends with him you’re acting weird” she told me, raising an eyebrow.
“That’s rubbish! Geez Sez, why do you always make things worse than they actually are?” I exclaimed getting slightly annoyed, getting up from the sofa going to the kitchen where I scanned the fridge for a drink.
“Because Nads is my friend and I care about her. I thought you loved her” Sarah said leaning against the doorway. Sipping the can of coke I looked at my sister.
“I do, I really do. It’s just that I’ve got some things on my mind right now” I said placing the can down on the kitchen unit, not wanting to talk about it anymore. As I passed her she gently took my arm, spinning me around to face her.
“Don’t let her go Lee. You’ll regret it later on” she said softly. Not knowing what to say I simply nodded and mumbled a quiet ‘thank you’ before running up the stairs, going to my bedroom where I closed the door and picked my phone up from the bed, dialling Nadine’s number.
No-one answered and I sighed deeply, throwing the phone across the bed, running my hands over my face as I thought about what was going on. In the back of my mind I knew Sarah was right about Jake, she was always right when it came to him. It all started off months before when we became ‘friends’, he was the popular guy in school and an unwritten law was to bully new people.
Bullying others had never been a thing I liked to do, but because I wanted to fit in with the group, I did it anyway. Giving up on phoning Nadine I got up from the bed and grabbed my phone, sliding it in the back pocket of my jeans, leaving the room going downstairs.
“Where you off to?” Sarah asked popping her head around the living room door as I slipped my jacket on.
“Nads” I said opening the door, managing to catch her soft smile before the door fell shut. It was cold outside and shivering I pulled my jacket tighter around me, walking the short walk to Nadine’s house, thinking of what to say to her.
Ten minutes later I reached the house and I walked up to the front door, ringing the doorbell. Seconds later the door went open and Nadine appeared, a surprised look on her face as she caught sight of me. “Lee” she said softly, a little shy smile appearing. Nervously I smiled back.
“Hey…uhm…can I come in? It’s freezing here” I said. She nodded and opened the door properly, stepping aside so I could enter the house. Immediately the warmth surrounded me and I shoved my hands deep in my pockets, turning around to look at Nadine.
Her eyes looked sad, making me feel even worse as I recalled what happened at school. She looked tired and I sighed, lifting my head up to face her. “I’m sorry babe” I said.
“For what? For leaving me on my own on my first day at a new school?” she snapped, pushing past me storming up to her bedroom, slamming the door shut. I sighed again, knowing how stubborn she could be. I went upstairs, gently knocking on the closed door, opening it slowly.
“Go away” Nadine said through sobs as I walked over to her, she was sat on the bed with her back facing me.
“Babe, please. I’m sorry” I said kneeling down in front of her, gently taking away the hands from her eyes, tears falling down her cheeks as she sniffed.
“I love you Lee. Why are you being like this? If you don’t wanna be with me anymore, just tell me” she said sounding broken. Feeling guilty I squeezed her hands tighter, rubbing them with my thumb.
“Of course I want to be with you, more than anything. It’s just that things are a bit difficult now” I told her. Nadine looked at me.
“What kind of things? You used to tell me everything, why can’t you now?” she asked quietly, a single tear leaving her eyes as I stayed silent. I simply didn’t know how I could tell her what kind of influence my ‘friends’ had on me.
Chapter 4
Duncan
I placed the DVD in before making my way over to the sofa as Nads moved slightly allowing me to slip down the back behind her, as she rested her head on my chest, as I leant back on the cream sofa sinking into it,
“I know he doesn’t mean to upset me” she told me quietly as I stroked her back gently, “I think there’s something going on that he’s not telling me” she admitted looking up at me, I sighed,
“I dunno babe, I’ll talk to him okay?” I asked her, she smiled, kissing my cheek, I wanted to help and Lee was my best friend but Nads was my sister I didn’t want her getting hurt but I knew there was something going on with Lee, just none of us knew what yet.
He could be really secretive when he wanted to be, he would never let anyone else help him out, that would be seen as weak to Lee, he had always had to provide the manly role in his household just like I had, but the only difference being that Nadine’s dad still saw her. We had different dads but the same mother, my dad walked out when I was a baby, and then mum got with Nadine’s dad.
It was then that they had Nadine but the responsibility became too much and he cheated resulting in them separating, I knew Nadine loved the time she spent with her dad even with everything he had done, nothing changed the fact that he was her dad and still provided for her.
“Thanks dunk” she whispered I smiled softly at her as she rested against me again the movie starting up, we were watching a walk to remember again, it was Nads choice, I wasn’t to big of a fan, once was enough for me, but if it made her happy.
“Babe why don’t you get Sez to come over and watch this with her?” I asked innocently, as she laughed,
“Okay, okay, but your going to watch a movie with me tomorrow” she told me poking my chest gently making me laugh.
“Fine just not this one; were going to cinema my treat tomorrow?” I asked her, she grinned nodding as she kissed my cheek,
“I’ll phone Sez” she told me getting up from my lap as I turned the DVD off grinning to myself. I turned the TV on flicking through the channels as Nads came back into the room as she slumped on the sofa beside me.
“What’s wrong?” I asked bringing her into a hug as she started crying softly,
“Lee answered the phone” she cried burying her head into my chest as I sighed wrapping my arms tightly round her as I stroked her back gently. We led like that for about 10 minutes until her sobs became silent, it was then that I realised she was asleep.
I carefully lifted her up from on top of me and slipped out from underneath her before I carefully picked her sleeping body up and carried her up to her room placing her on her bed pulling the covers over her. She stirred slightly snuggling into them.
“Night dunk” she whispered, I smiled kissing her forehead gently as I made my way downstairs. I got to the bottom of the stairs as the door knocked, I opened it up surprised to see Sez in front of me,
“Hey Lee said Nads phoned” she told me worried, I smiled slightly letting her in, “is she okay?” she asked me concerned
“She’s sleeping at the moment babes” I told her noticing her overnight bag, she nodded, “your more then welcome to stay though” I told her, she grinned,
“ta, Lee has his twatish mates round anyways” she told me mumbling the last bit, I frowned,
“What mates are they?” I asked her, she sighed “you mean Jake?” I asked her she nodded scrunching up her nose making her look so cute.
“I dunno Lee just started hanging with him recently and now I dunno just like Jake has some thing over him, its just not Lee” she told me frowning slightly as she sat down on the sofa, I smiled sitting down next to her as I turned to face her, her doing the same.
“Maybe he feels the need to fit in?” I asked her she frowned scrunching her nose again
“Nah cos why start now?” she asked me, “He’s just using it as an escape route I think” she frowned.
“An escape route from what?” he asked raising an eyebrow, she frowned
“Uh don’t know” she lied quietly, he sighed
“Sez” he told her “I know you” he told her sighing “what’s happened?” he asked concerned cupping her cheek making her look at him, she tried to look away as he made her look at him again as he gently wiped away her tears
“Things are bit awkward at the moment that’s all” she told him quietly, he nodded knowing he wasn’t going to get anymore out of her. He wrapped his arms round her pulling her onto his lap as she curled up softly leaning her head against his chest as they carefully watched the movie, both their minds in different places.
Chapter 5.
Nadine.
As I awoke in the middle of the night the pale moonlight fell through the curtains and I yawned, rolling over onto my side. The light of my phone was flickering and I picked it up sighing as I realised I had four missed calls and two texts. All from Lee.
- Babe I’m sorry, please pick up the phone so we can talk xxx -
Tears sprung to my eyes as I opened the second text, sniffing as I read it.
- I guess you’re asleep now. Sweet dreams baby, I love you xxxx -
Crying I wondered whether to phone him back but it was 3 in the morning and I assumed he would be asleep by now. Just as I was about to put the phone down it rang again and Lee’s name flashed on the screen. With shaking hands I hesitated for a moment before pushing the green button accepting the call.
“Hey” I said quietly answering it.
“Nads! I’ve been trying to call you all night! Are you alright?” Lee exclaimed down the line. I sniffed and wiped the tears from my eyes as I sat right up in bed resting my back against the wall, pulling the covers over my body. “Stupid question, of course you’re not alright. I’m so sorry” he continued, the tone of his voice getting more serious.
“Sorry isn’t going to work this time Lee” I said.
“What do you want me to say then?” he replied with a sigh.
“What’s on your mind” I said immediately, pulling up my legs, resting my head on my knees as I looked around the dark room waiting for him to reply.
“I already told you I can’t tell you!” Lee exclaimed obviously getting annoyed as he sighed again. More tears sprung to my eyes and I closed my eyes as they fall down my cheeks, swallowing hard to get the lump in my throat away. “Look, I’m sorry for snapping at you. It’s just that I’ve got some things on my mind right now, I’ll tell you when the time is right, okay?” he added.
“Whatever” I sniffed ending the phone call by pushing the red button, turning the phone completely off as it rang again. I placed the phone on the nightstand and slipped out of bed, pulling on a tracksuit before opening the door and stepping out into the dark hall.
I entered the living room and smiled to myself as I found Duncan and Sarah asleep on the sofa cuddled up. The small lamp next to the sofa was switched on and I switched it off, making the room go dark in a second. Quietly I walked through to the kitchen and closed the door behind me before turning the light on.
I opened the cupboard to get a cup, a sudden knock on the kitchen door making me jump as I spun around, my heart racing in my chest. As I looked closer I realised it was Lee standing outside and I quickly opened the door, pulling him inside. “What are you doing here?” I exclaimed quietly, keeping in mind Duncan and Sarah were asleep in the living room.
“We need to talk” he said simply, closing the door as I rolled my eyes and folded my arms across my chest shivering with cold.
“At almost 4 in the morning?” I said coldly, leaning against the door.
“Babe come on. Don’t be like this” Lee said stepping closer to me as he went to take my hand but I shook my head and moved away from him, leaning back against the kitchen unit. “What is wrong with you?” he asked frowning.
“Me? What is wrong with YOU? You are the one who isn’t telling me anything!” I exclaimed not believing he had the guts to say that. “I’m really not in the mood for this right now” I pushed past Lee opening the door just as Duncan was about to step into the kitchen, frowning, obviously I had woken him up.
“Hey mate, everything okay?” he asked Lee, still frowning as he looked at his watch.
“Everything is fine. Lee was just leaving, weren’t you?” I said glaring at him. His piercing eyes looked at me and I almost gave in as I saw how sorry he actually was, but I stayed strong and stared harder.
“Uhm yeah, I guess. Night” he said giving a small wave before opening the door and leaving the house.
“Hold it right there” Duncan said sternly making me stop from walking up the stairs. Sighing deeply I turned around and looked at him as he closed the door to the living room so we wouldn’t wake Sarah up. “Now, would you mind telling me what the yelling was about?” he asked, the tone of his voice softer this time.
I shook my head, suddenly feeling deeply upset. “I’m tired and I want to sleep. Can we talk about this in the morning?” I said. He sighed and went to shake his head but then nodded as he looked down to the floor, knowing how pushing me to tell things wouldn’t help. “Thanks Dunk” I smiled stepping down the few steps to kiss his cheek before going back up to my bedroom, switching on my phone as I climbed into bed.
One message received.

Chapter Six.
Duncan.
I rubbed my eyes stretching as I heard a groan beside me as I looked down smiling at Sarah’s sleeping body, I smiled to myself stroking he hair from her face I kissed her forehead gently climbing out of bed. After the discussion in the night with Nad’s I had decided that the sofa was way to uncomfortable for my liking and carried Sarah upstairs. I headed downstairs so I didn’t wake her yawning to myself, Nad’s was sat down on the sofa with a drink in her hand, she smiled slightly at me
“kettles hot” she smiled, I smiled faintly heading into kitchen I grabbed a cup from the cupboard pouring myself a coffee I took a sip burning my tongue on it I looked up hearing footsteps on the stairs smiling at a very sleepy Sarah. She smiled heading into the kitchen
“morning” she grumbled kissing my cheek and taking my coffee making me laugh as she headed into the front room “thanks dunk” she mumbled, I sighed shaking my head at her I made myself a new coffee heading into front room too. By now the girls were in a full conversation giggling away making me shake my head how they could change from grumpy to happy was beyond me. Women who knows?
They both smiled at me as I sat down between them “so you going to tell me what happened-” I was cut off by someone coughing making me roll my eyes “are you going to tell US what happened?” I asked her emphasising the us making her giggle. I smiled squeezing her hand gently before placing my hand around her shoulder as she sighed.
“its nothing really…” she trailed off as I raised an eyebrow “we just had a little fight and he didn’t want to leave it” she mumbled quietly and quickly making me think it wasn’t true, I could tell it wasn’t but Sarah gave me a warning look. We sat in silence I wasn’t sure what to say,
“dunk don’t be mad” Nad’s pouted at me, I smiled slightly not sure what to think or what to say. I wanted her to tell me in her own time. I squeezed her shoulder gently as she smiled leaning into me. We flicked the TV on watching a bit of it but I was watching Nad’s and her eyes were clouded and a frown upon her face like she was deep in thought. I looked at Sarah who was watching me, she blushed looking away quickly back at the TV. I smiled kissing the side of her head gently making her look up at me. I smiled watching the TV for a bit but it wasn’t really interesting me.
I sighed climbing to my feet “I’m going to go get dressed” I told them as they both smiled slightly at me, I could feel there eyes on me, I turned round noticing Sarah watching me, I smiled at her before I walked out the room. I wasn’t sure how she felt towards me, everyone had told me she liked me too but I didn’t want to believe it until I knew. I sighed to myself I wasn’t sure what happened and I didn’t know why but somehow things had changed.
It was so much simpler as kids, we could just mess around with no care in the world, every time something bad happened we had our parents to fall back on and we didn’t have the mess of attractions and school and everything else that came with the complications of school and life as a teenager in general. Listen to me I sound like one of those letters to an agony aunt. But things had changed.
Nadine used to tell me everything and now suddenly she had stopped and never told me anything anymore, I knew part of it was because she had grown up and because she had gained Lee. I knew him dating her made things awkward if something happened I guess that was what put me off asking Sarah out. Yes I admit it, I was attracted to her. But it was more complicated then that. Or at least I had made it that complicated.
I rubbed my eyes picking up some clean clothes and grabbing a towel I headed into the bathroom for a relaxing shower, I switched the shower on letting it warm up as I stripped naked, placing my towel on the radiator and my shirt and boxers in the laundry basket. I placed my clothes on the other part of the radiator before stepping into the shower and pulling the curtain shut I closed my eyes letting the water run over me I sighed as the hot water hit my skin I started washing my hair until I heard a sudden yelp and the bathroom door slam shut making me look in that direction. From the sudden yelp I assumed it could only be one person.
Chapter 7.
Nadine.
“Oh my God…oh my God” Sarah exclaimed running into the living room. I looked up from watching TV and frowned. “Oh dear Lord” she said collapsing next to me on the sofa. Footsteps came running down the stairs and I opened my mouth to speak but before I could say a word, Duncan interrupted me.
“Sez, I’m so sorry” he said desperately holding up the towel around his waist, so it wouldn’t fall off. Sarah was blushing furiously and looked at her hands. I frowned even more.
“Can someone please tell me what’s going on here?” I asked.
“I was taking a shower and Sez accidentally entered the bathroom” Duncan said with a slight smile, his eyes seemed cheeky. I burst out laughing.
“Sez!” I exclaimed laughing. Sarah looked at me and a giggle left her lips. “I told you to not drool over my brother!” I laughed.
“I wasn’t drooling! It was an accident!” she exclaimed and started laughing too, the colour on her cheeks slowly turning less red. Duncan rolled his eyes but then started to laugh too.
“You girls are mad” he smiled shaking his head.
“You love us for it!” I called after him, still laughing, as he went back upstairs. Giggling Sarah looked at me. “Did you like what you saw then?” I asked cheekily, knowing she had a thing for Duncan.
“I didn’t see that much” she said shaking her head. “Unfortunately” she giggled making me laugh again. The sudden ringing of the doorbell interrupted us and I raised an eyebrow, wondering who it could be at 8 in the morning.
I pulled my dressing gown tighter around me and opened the front door a bit. “What are you doing here?” I asked with a sigh. Lee raised an eyebrow.
“That’s a nice way of greeting your boyfriend” he said shivering with cold. I rolled my eyes and opened the door further, making a sign with my hand indicating for him to come in. Smiling slightly he stepped into the hall and pressed a kiss on my cheek.
“Well…what are you doing here?” I asked again, folding my arms across my chest. Lee took off his jacket and turned to me.
“I’m here to talk to you” he said.
“You’d better talk then” I said. He frowned. “Every time you tell me we need to talk, I am the one who does all the talking. When I ask you what’s wrong, you tell me it’s none of my business!” I exclaimed.
“Babe come on” Lee sighed. I walked through the living room to the kitchen, wondering where Sarah had gone to. “Look, I know I’m wrong but I just can’t tell you what’s going on right now” he said.
I turned around and leaned against the kitchen unit. “Are you seeing someone else?” I asked. His green eyes widened.
“I can’t believe you have the guts to ask that, Nads!” he exclaimed. “I love you, why would I want to see someone else then?”
“You love me? It doesn’t seem to be that way to me” I exclaimed too. “You’ve changed Lee, you used to tell me everything, why can’t you now?” I asked lowering my voice, feeling a lump form in my throat. I hated fighting and especially with Lee.
Lee hung his head low and silence surrounded us. “Maybe it’s better if we take it easy for some time” I said quietly, fiddling with my dressing gown.
“What?” he gasped. Nodding I looked up at him, swallowing the upcoming tears away.
“I can’t be in a relationship with you when you can’t talk to me” I sniffed biting my lower lip, tasting the salt of my tears as they started rolling.
“Baby no, please, don’t break up with me” Lee exclaimed stepping up to me. His warm hands cupped my cheeks which forced me to look at him. “Please don’t. I love you” he whispered. I closed my eyes, the tears still rolling down my cheeks. A pair of soft lips touched mine and I opened them again.
“We can work this out babe, I know we can” he said not taking his eyes away from mine. Knowing that I loved him and needed him, I nodded and moved my arms up around his neck, pulling him close to me for a tight hug.
“Woops sorry!” Duncan suddenly exclaimed. Lee pulled away from the hug and turned around to look at him.
“Hey Dunk” he said.
“You’re early mate” Duncan said looking at the clock on the wall. Lee nodded and glanced at me for a second, flashing me a soft smile.
“Yeah, I needed to talk to Nads” he said.
“Ah ok. I hope you sorted it out” Duncan said with a soft smile, looking at me. I smiled back faintly, knowing that I could always count on him when I needed a shoulder to cry on or when I needed someone to talk to. “What are you doing today?” he asked pouring another cup of tea.
I shrugged and looked at Lee who shrugged too. “Maybe we can go to the park and just have a quiet day. The weather seems nice” Duncan said looking out of the window. The sun was slowly but surely coming through the clouds. It wouldn’t be a warm day, but it wouldn’t be that cold either.
“Sounds nice. I’ll go have a shower then” I said. So I left the boys in the kitchen and made my way upstairs towards the bathroom. The door to my bedroom was open and I giggled to myself as I saw Sarah standing in front of the mirror, singing along to the music on the radio.
Chapter 8
Lee
I watched as Nadine left the room I knew what was going to come next and part of me wished she had stayed so that I didn’t have to face him, but I knew I was going to have to eventually it was just difficult because I was his best friend and Nadine was sister so he was stuck in the middle and we both always knew which side he would fall depending on who was in the wrong and I knew this time it was me. He didn’t say anything but just looked at me waiting and wondering I knew he wouldn’t push he wasn’t like that he was waiting for me to be a man about it and face what he had to say.
“I just…been off bit lately…not like intentionally….its complicated” I sighed rubbing my forehead not sure how to explain it. Nobody understood how I felt, how was I supposed to explain how scared I felt. She thought I didn’t know but I did, I wasn’t stupid. Before Nadine and Duncan moved here Sarah had been diagnosed with cancer but she managed to pull through it all its why she loved her hair so much because she was glad to have it back after losing it all due to Chemotherapy. She had been fine for ages nobody would have known she had it. Hardly anyone did. But recently she had been up a lot in the night, I don’t think she realises quite how thin the walls in our house are.
She would be up and go in the bathroom and I heard her being sick, and all the coughing, and it scared me, was it back? I knew she would deny it all and I didn’t know how to confront her about it. What if it was me overreacting and it was just a cold or a virus? It could be anything, but I knew about it all it was scary as hell. I couldn’t tell mum it would panic her even more without the worries for money. She was working her ass off to keep us all in this house and put food on the table.
He sighed looking at me, “you know she just wants to help mate” he told me, I nodded, I knew that but she couldn’t because she didn’t know, she couldn’t know, Sarah didn’t want anyone to know. She thought if people knew they would feel sorry for her and she didn’t want that. She wanted true friends not someone to be nice to her because of it. She just wanted to be able to be normal.
“I know she does, but she cant, like I said its complicated” I sighed I really wanted to tell him, spill out it all, but I knew he wouldn’t take it well, and Nadine wouldn’t either, we both knew he liked Sarah even if he didn’t want to admit it, me and Nadine had tried so many times to set them up but they wouldn’t have any of it which seemed a bit silly to us.
He smiled patting my shoulder sympathetically, “I’m sure you guys will be fine just try and be more open, and if you have to keep it a secret just try not to let it ruin your relationship mate” he smiled, I nodded smiling at him giving a manly hug.
“so what about you and Sez when you going to get together?” I asked him laughing making him groan “you know you guys-”
“get out that’s it” he joked pushing me making me laugh “were not going to, its not like that” he exclaimed making me laugh “she don’t see me like that” he sighed
“yeh, yeh, whatever dunk” I exclaimed before he jokingly pushed me again making me laugh as we began play fighting
“do you children ever grow up?” we heard Nadine ask as we looked up as her and Sarah started giggling together making us shake our heads. “we going then?” Nadine asked smiling at me, I smiled and nodded taking her hand in mine as she tucked her hair behind her ear shyly as I kissed her cheek gently. She grabbed a light jacket and we all headed out the front door and down the steps, I slipped my arm round her waist holding her close as Duncan picked up his football but Sarah was too quick for him and took it making him laugh before he started chasing her down the street making us laugh.
I smiled down at Nadine kissing her forehead “I’m sorry” I whispered kissing her hair
“I know” she whispered back pulling me down for a little kiss, we pulled apart laughing as Duncan came back to us the football under one arm and Sarah over his shoulder who was complaining a lot
“stop moaning Sez or people will start to think your up to no good” I cheeked making us laugh.
Chapter 9.
Nadine.
“Hmm this is nice” I mumbled closing my eyes, feeling the warm sunlight on my face. Duncan and Sarah were playing football while Lee and I were sitting down under a tree, his back resting against the tree, my head on his lap as I laid between his legs.
“I bet it is, using me as your pillow” Lee chuckled playing with my hair. Giggling I opened my eyes again and looked straight into his. Smiling he leaned down and softly kissed me making me smile too. “Look at them. They seriously need to get together” he said as we broke apart.
I looked up at Duncan and Sarah. He was chasing her around, making her laugh and squeal his name. I laughed slightly. “They would make such a cute couple” I said. Lee nodded and stared at something in the distance, his green eyes suddenly looking sad.
“Lee what’s wrong?” I asked softly, sitting up right. I moved so I could look at him, pulling up my legs. Sighing he looked at me. “Sorry, I just…” I trailed off knowing that he wouldn’t tell me what was wrong.
“It’s ok babe” he said with a slight smile, moving his arms around my waist, pulling me close to him. Smiling I pressed a kiss on his lips then rested my head on his chest, his steady heartbeat soon sending me off to dreamland.
I woke up again to the sound of laughing. “Aww sorry baby, did I wake you?” Lee asked calming down from laughing. I shook my head and pushed myself up to sit properly, resting my head against the tree.
“What’s so funny?” I asked reaching out for a can of coke.
“Ask your brother” he grinned taking a sip from his own drink. With a raised eyebrow I looked at Duncan who held his hands up in the air as if to say he was innocent. “Go on Dunk, tell your sister what you just told me” Lee grinned again, poking his tongue out at him.
“I didn’t say anything!” Duncan exclaimed, the colour on his cheeks turning slightly red. I raised an eyebrow. “Don’t give me that look” he laughed.
“Tell me then!” I exclaimed.
“Ok ok, hold your horses!” he laughed again, finishing off his can of coke. “I just said that Sez looks nice today” he said with a smile as he looked over at Sarah who was talking to someone she knew.
“Dunk, do you fancy her?” I asked with a giggle. Lee suddenly got up and I frowned as he walked off, his hands in his pockets. Duncan’s smile faded away and he raised an eyebrow too. “I’ll be right back” I said getting up to my feet, quickly running after Lee.
I found him sitting on the bench at the lake, head in hands. I stopped running and softly placed my hand on his shoulder. Startled he looked up and my eyes widened as I saw tears in the corners of his eyes. “Lee, what’s wrong?” I asked sitting down next to him.
Immediately his arms went around me and sniffing he hugged me tightly. Confused I hugged him back, gently rubbing his back. “Promise me you’ll never leave me” Lee whispered with a croaky voice. Confused I pulled away from the hug and looked into his teary eyes.
“Of course not” I said. “What’s wrong Lee? Please tell me” I said quietly, watching him wipe away the tears with the back of his hand.
“There you are!” Sarah’s bubbly voice appeared. “What are you doing here? Come on, we want ice cream!” she exclaimed smiling widely. Lee quickly wiped the last tears away and pressed a kiss on my lips, then got up and ran after his sister making her laugh as he chased her, meanwhile leaving me behind in confusion.
Chapter Ten
Sarah
I quickly ran behind Duncan holding him in front of me making him laugh as Lee tried to grab me, Nads following him closely behind. Lee grabbed me quickly so I sneaked my arms round Duncan’s waist holding onto him
“nooooooo!!” I squealed as Lee started tickling me to try and get me to let go, Duncan was laughing madly at me but I couldn’t care I was too busy watching him. God did he look sexy when he laughed. He caught me looking smiling at me; I smiled looking down blushing I let go Lee pulling me away from him. “Leeeeee! Put me down!” I laughed as he threw me over his shoulder carrying me towards the pond.
“that’s it your going in” he laughed as I scrambled and started hitting and kicking making him laugh even more, his spare hand moving to hold my legs still.
“Leeeeeeeee” I squealed as we got closer to the water, I was a horrible green colour and didn’t look healthy at all. He laughed placing me down on the grass, I hit him before running off as he started chasing me “I give in” I laughed “I want an ice cream!” I giggled my tummy rumbling. He shook his head at me taking Nads hand making me smile as they headed towards the ice cream van.
“come on you” Duncan smiled placing his arm round my shoulder, I smiled leaning into him, I knew to a lot of people we looked like more then friends but I knew all he felt was friendship, I wished for something more but I knew I wouldn’t and couldn’t have it. Right now I was happy with just friends if that’s all he wanted.
We caught up with the others I rummaged through my pockets grumbling, “dunkieeee!” I whined as he laughed shaking his head “I forgot my money” I pouted as he pulled an awww face at me mocking me. I pouted “pleaseeeee you know you love me” I grinned cheekily, he laughed shaking his head he ordered an ice cream. He grinned taking a lick from it before handing it to me.
“There ye go babe” he winked as I screwed up my nose, suppose was closest to kissing him I was gonna get. I took it reluctantly before giving in and deciding to eat some of it,
“Don’t you want some?” I asked through a mouthful realising what I did, I giggled, oh god embarrassment! He smirked shaking his head,
“Nah if I change my mind I’ll nick some of yours” he winked, I smiled leaning up I kissed his cheek
“Thanks!” I grinned happily eating my ice cream as we headed back to the grass area where Nads and Lee were cuddled up sharing an ice cream; I smiled though feeling a bit of sadness part of me wished I had someone to cuddle up to. I sighed sitting down on the grass near them staring ahead my mind going elsewhere.
“Is it interesting?” a voice whispered in my ear, I smiled turning round to look at Duncan, I nodded “more then me?” he pouted making me giggle as I nodded again him looking at me in mock horror. I smiled making him smile back causing me to giggle again, he laughed “your mad you know that!” he cheeked
“must run in the family” I heard a cheery voice laugh, I laughed looking up at Lee “were gonna head back to ours” Lee smiled his arm round Nads waist, I smiled they were so cute together was shame my brother could be such as arsehole sometimes.
“Okay, I got clothes at Nads so I shall not be disturbing you” I winked as he laughed shaking his head
“Sez!!” Nads exclaimed blushing furiously causing me to giggle she shook her head at me laughing. I grinned to myself “byee” she smiled hugging me and then Duncan, I smiled hugging my brother smiling as he gave me an extra long hug.
“shall we go too?” Duncan asked, I shook my head sitting back down and pulling him with me
“no this is nice!” I smiled, he grinned and nodded agreeing with me, “we should get a movie for later!” I grinned as he laughed
“yes as long as it isn’t a chick flick I don’t care!” he laughed, I playfully pushed him as he pushed me back it soon turning into a play fight as he started tickling me
“Duncan that’s cheating!” I exclaimed as he laughed straddling my lap pinning my arms to the floor
“do you surrender?” he asked, I shook my head giggling as he started tickling me, he laughed smiling at me as he stopped I smiled took trying to blow some hair out of my face making him laugh, he smiled moving a piece for me, his hand staying on my cheek as his face turned serious
Our eyes connected and suddenly it was like I was dreaming and the world had stopped,
“dunk” I whispered as his lips slowly landed on mine, I closed my eyes savouring the moment and the touch before my head stopped spinning and I slowly kissed him back. I then came to my senses and pushed him away “no, no, no that shouldn’t have happened!”

Chapter 11.
Lee.
“Do you think something will happen between them now we’ve left them alone?” Nadine asked looking at me with a twinkle in her eyes and a smile on her lips. I shrugged and squeezed her hand gently, swaying our entwined fingers gently back and forward.
“Maybe, it better” I grinned making her giggle. We reached my place and I let go off her hand so I could unlock the front door. “What do you wanna do babe?” I asked Nadine, taking off my jacket and taking hers.
“Can we watch Pearl Harbour?” she asked smiling sweetly, yet cheekily.
“Aww babe no, not again” I exclaimed following her up to my bedroom.
“Yes Lee, again” she giggled plonking down on my bed, leaning over to take the DVD from the bedside table. It was her DVD and because she absolutely loved that movie, she got Duncan to make a copy of it so she could leave it at my place.
“Oi! Get off me!” Nadine exclaimed laughing as I began to tickle her, knowing she couldn’t stand to be tickled on her belly. “Leeee!!” she laughed which made me laugh too. We rolled over and she quickly entwined our fingers above my head, poking her tongue out at me.
“I win! I win!” she giggled. Laughing I looked at her.
“I don’t care, I like this position. Less work for me” I grinned cheekily, pulling her down for a passionate kiss, moving my hands up around her waist as she let go off them.
I pulled the shirt over my head, slipped my jeans on and ruffled my hair up with gel, leaving it spiky. “Can we watch the movie now?” Nadine giggled as I entered the bedroom again. I laughed and nodded, taking the DVD from her to put it on.
Downstairs the lock of the front door clicked and seconds later we heard footsteps on the stairs. “Is it safe to come in? Are you two dressed?” Sarah called. Nadine and I burst out laughing.
“Yeah you moo, come in” I laughed. The door went open and Sarah and Duncan appeared in the doorway, his hand gently on her waist. I smirked. “I thought you were gonna give us some privacy” I said cheekily.
“We did mate, we thought 3 hours would be enough!” Duncan exclaimed practically jumping on the bed, leaning forward to take a sip from Nadine’s coke.
“Oi that’s mine!” she exclaimed. He poked his tongue out at her and I smiled at them, then raised an eyebrow as I realised Sarah wasn’t in the room.
“I’ll go get some more drinks” I said jumping off the bed. I wandered downstairs and frowned as I didn’t find Sarah anywhere. I went to the kitchen and got a few more glasses and bottles of coke, then went upstairs again.
The bathroom door opened and Sarah appeared, looking a bit down. “Are you ok?” I asked slightly worried, she looked a bit pale. She smiled softly and nodded.
“Think I had too much ice cream, nothing to worry about” she said with a giggle. I sighed to myself, there was something seriously wrong with her. I didn’t want to spoil the good day we had so I followed her into my bedroom and placed down the glasses and bottles.
“Mate, guess what we’re watching” Duncan said grabbing the Pearl Harbour DVD case.
“I know. I bet you wish you didn’t copy it, huh” I grinned sitting down on the bed, getting comfortable with a few cushions. He laughed and sat down beside me, his back resting against the wall too. The girls were sat on the floor, giggling and talking like there was no tomorrow.
“Girls can’t we watch something else?” I asked.
“Nope. You had a chance to watch it this afternoon but you wanted to do other things, so tough luck bro!” Sarah exclaimed cheekily. Nadine laughed.
“Sez! I don’t wanna know what my sister and your brother get up to!” Duncan said laughing too, pulling a face.
“You could learn something” I grinned nudging him as he laughed even harder, shaking his head at me.
“No thanks mate. I can handle these things on my own” he said grinning widely.
“Good good” I chuckled.
An hour later the girls were totally into the movie, complete with the sobbing and ‘oohs’ and ‘aawws’. During the movie I noticed Duncan kept staring at Sarah, so I decided to ask if something had happened earlier that day.
“Stop drooling mate” I whispered nudging him.
“What?” he looked away from Sarah.
“Stop drooling over my sister” I whispered. Duncan raised an eyebrow.
“I’m not drooling” he said which made the girls look up. I smiled at them and they both shrugged, then focused all their attention on the movie again. “I’m watching the movie” he said.
“We’re watching Pearl Harbour mate” I grinned.
“Ok ok. Maybe I was looking at her” Duncan smiled. “Why are you asking?”
“Just wondering” I said sipping my drink. In the corner of my eye I could see his eyes wander back to Sarah and I placed my drink down. “Spill it out Dunk. What happened in the park?” I asked in a whisper so the girls wouldn’t hear.
He grinned and shook his head lightly looking at me with shiny eyes. “Sez and I kinda kissed” he said.
“You what?” I exclaimed making the girls look up.

Chapter twelve
Sarah
I looked up wondering what they were talking about, well I kind of guessed what it was by the looks they were both giving me, I turned back to the television as Nads made her way towards them wanting to be told the news. It was like I was now some toy, everyone wanted to know about, be told about. I sighed climbing to my feet without even looking at them I walked out of the room.
I made my way downstairs biting my lip, I didn’t know why but I suddenly felt very insecure and aware of everything about me. I flicked the kettle on wanting a cup of tea to relax myself and some time to clear my head but I knew it wouldn’t happen. I didn’t know what I was feeling or why. All I knew was I was scared. I would have to face it sooner or later.
And it was going to be sooner.
I felt two arms slide round my waist sending a shiver down my spine and I knew exactly who it was. I closed my eyes trying not to allow myself to give in to him, it was so hard not to though. He didn’t say anything he just held me close and nothing needed to be said. I felt special, I felt wanted but I wasn’t sure if I wanted that.
“Sez” he whispered “don’t push me away” he told me, “I know your scared, I know you Sez, but you don’t need to be, its just me, Dunk, I wont hurt you I promise” he whispered. I closed my eyes fighting back the tears, I wanted to, everything I wanted was stood right behind me offered on a plate but there was still a question nagging at the back of my mind.
“am I good enough for you though?” I asked him quietly, I felt him tense behind me, I knew he hated me talking negatively about myself but I couldn’t help it, he could have any girl he wanted yet he wanted me. I felt him move behind me and he was no longer there, I had scared him off, but then I felt someone’s arms wrap me in a hug. It was him.
“I just want you” he whispered holding me close before he pulled back cupping my cheek making me look at him, “can I have you Sez?” he whispered, I looked up at him our eyes connecting, and I nodded smiling as a grin formed on his face. he held me close making me smile my arms round his neck, and for once in a long time I felt whole again.
He smiled kissing my lips gently, I smiled against his lips my hand moving to stroke the back of his neck gently. He smiled kissing my nose making me scrunch it up giggling. He took my cup of tea and my hand leading me back upstairs I smiled, I knew the others would be thinking and wondering what was going on. And I knew that they would comment but I didn’t care I felt on top of the world, for once I felt special.
We headed back into the room the others looking up at us I shyly took my cup from Duncan sitting back at the end of the bed with Nads, he smiled at me climbing back onto the bed next to Lee. I knew that Lee would start asking him questions again as soon as us girls weren’t paying any attention.
I didn’t mind because I knew he was my brother he was looking out for me and just wanted us both to be happy. Him and Nads had told me loads of times that Duncan liked me back but I didn’t want to believe that he could like someone like me, and now I was his girlfriend. Me his girlfriend it didn’t seem real. Nads winked at me
“you can tell me later” she whispered pressing play on the movie I grinned
“don’t know what your talking about” I whispered back as we both giggled
“you know very well what I’m talking about!” she whispered I smirked slightly
“me I’m innocent” I giggled as she looked at me in mock horror
“pfffft you wish” she cheeked us both giggling before getting back into the movie realising it was our favourite part we totally forgot about the guys.

We both grabbed a tissue as the movie ended wiping our eyes and giggling at each other, that movie never failed to make us cry. I then looked up to realise the guys weren’t actually sat on the bed anymore, Nads grinned and winked at me. I smiled slightly grabbing my cup and moving up onto the bed.
“sooo?” she asked grabbing my hands “tell me everything from the start” she grinned, she was never one to miss anything!

Chapter 13.
Nadine.
“There’s nothing to tell Nadsie!” Sarah exclaimed. I raised an eyebrow. “Don’t look at me like that” she giggled.
“Tell me then! Come on Sez, I know something happened, Lee just told me” I said getting comfortable on the big bed, pulling the covers over my cold feet.
“What did he say?” she asked laying down on her belly, leaning over to take a pillow.
“That you and Dunk kissed in the park after Lee and I left” I smiled. I was so happy that they had finally kissed. Duncan liked Sarah so much, he once told me during one of our good talks, and it was so obvious from the way he looked at her.
“My brother seriously can’t shut up, can he?” Sarah said rolling her eyes.
“Hey, that’s my boyfriend you’re talking about!” I exclaimed laughing, playfully hitting her arm. She laughed. “I thought you really liked Dunk” I said resting my head against the wall, hugging the pillow. She nodded.
“I do. It’s just that…” she trailed off biting her lower lip, looking down at her hands.
“It’s just what?” I asked softly, placing my hand on hers which made her look up at me again. “What’s wrong Sezzie?” I asked.
“Nothing” Sarah replied smiling but I recognised it to be a fake smile. “I’m just being silly. Guess I’m pretty shocked that Dunk actually asked me to be his girlfriend” she giggled.
“Oh my God, he asked you?” I exclaimed as my eyes widened. Laughing she shyly nodded. “He didn’t tell me that! He only told me you two kissed, when did he ask?” I asked excitedly, this was only getting better and better.
“When I went down for a cup of tea” Sarah said smiling softly.
“Aww that’s so romantic!” I exclaimed hugging her, giggling along with her.
“What’s romantic?” Lee asked suddenly. I pulled away from the hug and smiled at him as he stood in the doorway with Duncan behind him.
“The fact that my brother asked your sister out while making a cup of tea” I giggled getting up to my feet. A huge grin appeared on Duncan’s face and he pushed past Lee to join Sarah on the bed, kissing her cheek gently.
“Really?” Lee asked.
“Yeah. I know the kitchen is not the most romantic place to ask it but we happened to be there” Duncan chuckled. I smiled at them, they looked so good together.
“Well, I think it’s romantic” I said looking at Lee who smiled at me, planting a kiss on the side of my head as he pulled me closer. “Can we get something to eat? I’m starving” I said scrunching up my nose making him giggle.
“How can you be starving? You ate 2 huge chocolate bars!” he said teasingly.
“I want real food now” I said rolling my eyes.
“I get the hint babe, you want me to cook you something, right?” Lee grinned.
“I was hoping you’d say that” I giggled poking out my tongue. He laughed and pulled me in for a kiss, smiling at me as he pulled away, kissing my cheek gently before turning his attention on Duncan and Sarah.
“Do you want something to eat too?” he asked. Duncan nodded but Sarah shook her head. “You’ve got to eat Sez” Lee said raising an eyebrow, the look in his eyes changing. He looked so worried all of a sudden.
“I’m not hungry” she replied shrugging.
“Aww just a bit, do it for me babe” Duncan said placing his arm around her shoulder. Sarah shook her head again and bit her lip as she looked at him. He pouted and slowly her lips curled up into a small smile and she nodded shyly.
“That’s my girl” he grinned kissing her lips.

Chapter 14
Lee
I paid the pizza guy and headed into the front room where they were all sat watching the movie not even noticing, I rolled my eyes dropping a pizza box on Duncan’s lap making them both jump I climbed back on the sofa with Nads sitting behind her. She smiled sitting between my legs I opened the box and offered her some before taking a slice myself and putting it on the floor.
I was way to lazy too cook and nobody else was going to so we were left with pizza not that anyone but Sarah was going to complain and she was out voted as usual. I watched Duncan and Sarah they were whispering to each other but it was getting louder drawing my attention I could tell that Nads was trying to ignore it and watch the movie but it was starting to get hard to.
I looked across and they were now sat separate and both with a foul look on their faces, I rolled eyes I could have guessed what they were arguing about no doubt. Sarah seemed to think she was fat and wouldn’t have any of it when we told her she wasn’t so had insisted on going on a diet recently but I was worried about her. Because although she was eating I knew she wasn’t keeping it down, and it scared me, I knew she wasn’t stupid enough 2 make herself sick so something had to be making her sick. And that was what scared me.
I turned my attention back to the TV and Nads looked up at me with a frown on her face and I shrugged at her, it didn’t look good seeing as they had been together all of 5 minutes but I knew Duncan cared a lot for her and wouldn’t back down but she was just as stubborn. I smiled at Nads kissing her forehead she smiled back and we turned our attention back to the TV.
I saw Sarah get to her feet in the corner of my eyes and watched as she left, Duncan looked over at me and I nodded my head in the direction of the door, he sighed climbing to his feet and following her. I smiled at Nads, she grinned kissing me quickly “cupid aye?” she whispered giggling, I laughed winking at her. She smiled kissing me lovingly before snuggling back up to my chest, I wrapped my arms tightly round her watching the TV again.
Duncan came back in about 5 minutes later smiling at me, before sitting down on the sofa. I frowned wondering where Sarah was until I caught a quick glimpse “just going to pop to loo” I whispered in Nads ear seeing Sarah heading upstairs. She nodded moving so I could move from behind her. I smiled kissing her forehead gently “thanks babe”
I headed upstairs quietly not wanting Sarah to hear me, as I got closer to the bathroom I could hear the taps running vaguely and pressed my ear to the door. I could hear her being sick again, I sighed leaning against the wall next to the door waiting for her. What the hell was I going to do?
I heard the door click a couple minutes later as she stepped out of the bathroom “ahhh crap lee you scared crap out of me” she laughed, I looked at her blankly taking her arm I dragged her into her bedroom. I wasn’t going to let it lie just like that. “lee what are you doing?” she asked confused, I shut her bedroom door behind her.
“what the hell do you think you’ve been doing?” I asked trying to keep my voice down but trying to make her realise how serious I was. I didn’t want the others hearing because I knew she hadn’t told them about the cancer before and I didn’t want to bring it up now making it harder for us both especially after keeping it for so long. But I was so scared that it had come back, she had similar symptoms but only this time mum wasn’t around to see them.
“what are you talking about lee?” she asked angrily but quite confused sitting down on her bed giving me a weird look
“me, don’t think I haven’t heard you being sick every night Sez” I exclaimed angrily in a low tone.
I lost my piece of mind somewhere along the way
I knew there’d come a time you’d hear me say
I’m sick and tired
Of always being sick and tired…
